Trillium Trail (nature trail)

A short trip through nature’s beauty.

The Trillium Trail is a one quarter mile long nature trail at Horner Park. It was constructed in 1994 by Neva Laurie as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. The material on the page is based on a pamphlet that Ms Laurie prepared as part of her project. She gives a brief history of the park, a guide to flowering plants and a guide to animal tracks.

Fish and Fishing at the Park

Family FishingOne of the most popular activities at Horner Park is fishing. To insure the health of the fish population, there are daily catch limits, which are posted at the park entrance. All applicable

Illinois fishing regulations apply when you are at the park. Each summer the Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club holds a fishing rodeo for the kids. The page includes a listing of the game fish that are stocked in the park lake.

Our Facilities (a photo album)

PavilionThe pictures on the Facilities page showcase the different types of infrastructure offerings available throughout the park.  Facilities include two sets of modern restrooms (on the point by the Kiddie Korral, and next to the ball diamonds and large pavilion). Several small and medium sized pavilions scattered throughout the park, and the park hall.

Plants in the Park

Flowers22The “Plants in the Park” page lists plants that have been found in Horner Park. While incomplete (especially the shrubs and trees have not been suryeved in detail as yet), it is the best that is available.
